Energy Communities in Bulgaria were presented on XIX Annual Conference of ABEA

The development of energy communities in Bulgaria is in progress. Although they have their national peculiarities and some spesific characteristics their existence is fact. Six ofiically registered energy communities is not a big number but compared to the situation 3 years ago, this number is quite impressive. The establisment of energy communities will be on the agenda in the coming years, not only in Europe, but also in our country.

The Annual Conference of ABEA put a stress on this, as give the floor to all exisiting energy communites to present their experience, difficulties and challenges during the establishment and after that.

The first energy community in Sofia, established under LIFE-BECKON project was also presented and SOFENA team shared the business model with the audience. A lot of questions were raised and answered regarding the open procedure of the crowd-funding campaign. It is a new financial instrument used in our country for establishing energy communities.

Over 100 participants from nationa and local authorities, energy agencies and centers, businesses, etc. attended the event on 27.11.2025 in Grand Hotel Sofia.
